Featured Speaker: Marci Muhlestein

Independence, a goal for many young adults, but an even loftier goal for young adults who struggle with learning differences. The Occupational and Life Skills Program at Bellevue College is not only teaching students about independence with courses focused on career preparedness, interpersonal skills, and marketable skills, but it is actually delivering. OLS is the only associate degree program in the nation for adults with learning disabilities, and is setting a standard for others to follow. 85% of the students enrolled in the program in the last eight years are employed. That’s an impressive number for any population, but especially for one that has traditionally struggled with employment. You can read more about the OLS program and read student success stories here.

It is a life-long journey. Beginning this journey with relevant information and concentrated practice will support future success and foster self-reliance.
